Color me surprised!
Vision boards are wonderful tools used to help you focus on and clarify your “vision”. Where and how you see yourself in your dreams is one of the main ingredients to your future. Visualizing helps your mind accept what’s seen as true which, in turn, puts the universe in motion to create it. Being able to see your vision while in your present reality starts the wheels in motion and causes your inner-self to believe it to be true. Most people use beautiful pictures cut from magazines, or other cards and publications that they have received, but don’t forget the colors and items you choose to surround yourself with also helps bring the vision to life.
Ever walked into a new home and the color and décor just make you stand and take a deep breath and you begin feeling more and more tranquil? Until I started studying things that affected my own personal journey, including my surroundings, I had not recognized, consciously, that not only is color energy, it’s personal power. It’s the energy that the palate projects and we how it makes us feel. Color therapy is used by everyone from psychologists, business people, culinary specialists, institutions, designers, and of course, paint companies. Color research goes on in all areas of our lives and we don’t even realize it. Think about how places feel compared to one another. A grey sky vs. when it’s blue. Colors are personal…and yet they are universal.
Just like music, color invokes feelings, so it’s vital that when choosing colors for your vision board you do your homework. Think of each color of the rainbow and label what it means to you. There are several books and lots of information on the internet regarding what colors mean, but bottom line…this is your vision and your vision board needs to be as specific as possible to draw your belief in and anchor it. Once you’re personally invested it becomes real. Make your vision board bleed into real life. Use the canvas around you—your bedroom walls, your office décor—to begin living within your vision board. There won’t be any mental battle believing it when you live within the walls of your vision board.
